HAPPY BIRTHDAY ST KILDA NEWS
St Kilda News celebrated its first birthday with over 250 VIP guests at Memo Theatre on Thursday March 29th.
Local entertainers Matthew Fagan, Matt Walsh and the Hellhounds impressed the crowd while they enjoyed local food and drink from Phamish, Dogs Bar, Eurobites, St Kilda Brew and Crittenden Estate.
The SKN team unveiled their inaugural celebrity ambassadors Dave Hughes, Russel Gilbert, Renton Miller, Lukey Luke, Paris and Guy Grossi in front of local business people, council staff and St Kilda stalwarts.
Editor-in-chief Joel Cohen talked about how the paper was started, thanked his team of volunteers and those who have advertised with St Kilda News in its first year.
“SKN was started out of a love of St Kilda and a strong desire to make a contribution to this amazing suburb. We are now proud to acknowledge over 50 volunteers and are developing deeper links with the community with each edition.”
Local councillor Serge Thomann acknowledged the contribution that St Kilda News has made to the local community and the hard work that it has taken to achieve its first birthday.
“I am extremely pleased to be here as I think that St Kilda News is such an important part of our little village. The number of people here tonight demonstrates that I am not the only one of that view…”
“The community loves it [SKN] and each issue – 13 now – fly off the stand!”
